About NC Alive

Students in 4th and 5th grade at Southwest Elementary participate weekly in a History Alive program. Fourth graders gather together for North Carolina Alive which focuses on the history, geography, and people of North Carolina, past and present. Each week they work in stations using maps, doing research, learning about art, listening to music, watching videos, and science or math.
Students each create a scrapbook page for their journey through North Carolina time and space. From these scrapbook pages, written by students, we have pulled our blog posts. The only changes that have been made to our students’ words are to correct spelling. We feel this makes your journey with us more enjoyable.
